Dentures

Because of gum disease, accidents or tooth decay one or all of your natural teeth may have been lost.  Dentures are artificial teeth that can be used to replace your natural missing teeth and thus restore to you a beautiful smile.

Dentures are also easily removable from the mouth.  The teeth used in a denture are usually  made of porcelain and with today's technology they can be made to look completely natural. There was a time that you could tell whether a person was wearing dentures.  Thankfully, this is no longer the case.

There are two types of dentures - complete denture or a partial denture.  A complete denture is used when all of the teeth in the upper jaw or lower jaw are missing or gone. A partial denture is used when some natural teeth are remaining in the jaw. It's function is to replace the missing teeth as well as prevent the remaining natural teeth from shifting.

Ask the doctor to find out what is right for you.  You may experience some difficulties at first adjusting to your dentures when speaking and eating, but these difficulties will go away as you become accustomed to them.
